Bleeding victory

Bleeding victory (Photo credit: court_59)

With triumphs and with fame,

He’s more than just a name.

A hero to the mass;

A legend in his class.

All dreams within his reach;

His girlfriend is a peach.

An idol to the guys –

He sees it in their eyes.

The girls all want a chance,

To share in the romance.

The coaches sing his praise,

And speak of glory days.

The world at fingertip,

Success within his grip.

From outside looking in,

He is the one to win.

An eager crowd awaits –

A thing he loves but hates.

The call to center stage,

Is worse than a steel cage.

An image set in stone,

And yet he’s all alone.

Not just the quarterback,

He’s braced for an attack.

To party is his life,

As pills replace a knife.

His heart has grown so cold –

How long can his mask hold?

He’d give it all away,

If he could find the way.

Verse Of The Week:
36 What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? – Mark 8:36
(Disclaimer: The great depths of my sorrow can only be justly compared to the impressive heights of my joy. If you stay tuned in long enough you’ll begin to see the silver ray of hope in even the darkest of my reflections.)

What I’m Reading:
