I’m drowning in a sea of doubt.
I’m suffocating in this drought.
You’re on the outside looking in.
You’ve pegged me as the one to win.
The world stands ready in my grip –
The dreams of kings at fingertip.
I have it all, or so you say –
Alone I watch the tether fray.
My confidence is all an act –
My self-assurance was hijacked.
I’ve crashed before I’ve left the ground.
I’ve lost what must one day be found.
The fears within begin to churn,
Reminding me my soul still yearns.
To taste is simply just a tease –
One bite is not enough to ease:
An outstretched hand that pulls away,
And then will laugh at my dismay.
So deeply do I want to trust;
I seek true love not mindless lust.
The games we play – I just can’t take.
False hope will cause my heart to break.
They say a prince hides in a frog,
And light will shine despite the fog,
But rainbows stay just out of reach,
Regardless of what fables teach.
For even if I don’t let go,
I can’t maintain a grip on snow.
I don’t know why I even try,
For in the end my cup’s left dry.
LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. – Psalm 16:5
What I’m Reading:
Greek Myths A Wonder Book for Girls and Boys by Nathaniel Hawthorne.

Are these your new poems or are they written in the past ?

These poems are a combination of both. The ideas behind them were written while I was in high school and my first few years after graduating. I am currently transitioning the errant thoughts I penned into poetry by the setting the words to meter. In doing so, they have transformed into something separate and apart from my original ramblings.

I love your poetry. Always a story and a purpose. Many topics to think about in the poem. I believe we learn to understand our life. In the end. We decided our journey good or bad. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.
